Today is the first day of both potatoes and our beloved green beans–haricots verts.
We probably could have picked potatoes a week or more ago, but didn’t dig any until this morning for breakfast. Yum!
We spent several hours in the garden this morning weeding, weeding, and weeding some more. The garden hasn’t been weeded much since before our trip so they were pretty bad. Fortunately weeding often goes pretty quickly, especially when there are two weeders so we made good headway and I suspect the plants will appreciate it. More room, more water, more nutrients, hopefully fewer bugs.
It was while weeding that we discovered that the first batch of green bean plants has started producing. They are still fairly small–they are, in fact, better that way. Ron picked three rows. There are about four rows left to pick. We’re having green beans for dinner. More yum!
My best crop this year has been weeds!
Yum. I want green beans for dinner! I have a great recipe for them â with walnuts and a maple balsamic vinaigrette⦠think Iâll make some tonight (though not nearly as delicious as yours I am sure).
Xoxo
