I got in the car to leave this morning and was doing the usual juggling act–open garage door, get in car, back car out, close garage door… Most of the chickens were outside hanging out. If they see the humans around, they usually chatter hello (probably along the lines of “bring us treats!!!”).
I got a lot of chattering greetings and then sweet Pippi did the same thing as yesterday: she braved the crystallized snow, walked through the orchard to the garden gate, paused, yammered at me some more, and then headed over more snow in the garden to see me. I wasn’t that close and I didn’t have time to go around the garden, into the greenhouse, and into the garden to see her as I was already late for work.
But I had to turn off the car engine and say hello for a minute. It was just too cute. She’s my Pippi buddy these days.
Aw. So sweet. And so glad you took the time to chatter back at her. I needed this reminder to slow down and look around. Thanks Sara!
