Is this series of numbers the code to a lock?  A pin number for the ATM?  A secret code for spies?  The winning lottery ticket?

Nope.

Egg production over the last six days: Tuesday, 2 eggs; Wednesday, 2 more; Thursday, 4!; Friday, 3 eggs; Saturday, 2 more; and today (Sunday), 4 again!!  I checked the nest boxes at 9:50 this morning and the four eggs were there all at once.

One of our Amish carpenters who is primarily a farmer said that hens definitely start laying (more) after the winter solstice when the days are starting to get longer, however incrementally.  Apparently our chickens got the memo.  And given laying pattern over the past week, I suspect we may have bought our last eggs from the co-op last weekend until, oh, October.

This is so exciting, Sara! Do they taste amazing? And I love the tiny bit more of daylight we get now that we’ve passed the solstice… such a relief! Wishing you all a wonderful week. Love, L
