A Boxing Day present: the second egg! [And no, don’t worry; I won’t post a photo…] Presumably it was Caroline again, but we didn’t see her digging around the nesting boxes this morning. Ron had discovered the egg by noon so it looks like we now need to check around 9:00 am daily.
We had egg #1 for Christmas breakfast. We scrambled it separately from the three co-op eggs (!!). The yolk was brighter than the others–remarkably orange for mid-winter–and it was quite tasty.
We don’t know if this is the continued, but nonetheless temporary egg-laying “fest” following the sudden thaw this past weekend, or if Caroline is now a regular layer. But we’ll know soon enough!
